What To Do When You're Drowning

Every believer eventually faces seasons of life that feel too heavy, too overwhelming, or too painful to endure. In this message, Dr. Rocky Ramsey teaches the Biblical truths that anchor us when we feel like we’re drowning.

God’s purposes for us never change: to know Him (John 17:3), to become like Him (Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 8:28–29), and to lead others to Him (Matthew 28:19–20). But when the storm rises, we often forget what is true.

Pastor Rocky lays out seven steps rooted deeply in Scripture:

  1. Find God before the storm. Scripture calls us to seek Him while He may be found (Isaiah 55:6).

  2. Seek Him like never before. God promises to be found by those who search for Him with all their heart (Jeremiah 29:13–14).

  3. Walk by faith in the trial. Know the truth, speak the truth to yourself, and cling to the truth (2 Corinthians 5:7; John 17:17).

  4. Hold onto God, no matter what. Trials produce endurance, and endurance brings maturity (James 1:3–4).

  5. Refuse to doubt in the dark what God showed you in the light. Like Abraham, trust God against all hope (Romans 4:18–21).

  6. Do what you know is right when you don’t know what to do. (James 4:17).

  7. Trust God with what you don’t understand. God often works in the unseen and the impossible (Genesis 12–22).

This message reminds us that trials don’t drown God’s people—they deepen our faith. Storms don’t separate us from God; they draw us into His strength. With Scripture as our compass and Christ as our anchor, we can face the waves with confidence: God will carry us through.
