Where is God When Life is Bad?
In the storms of life, it’s natural to ask, “Where is God?” When tragedy strikes, when prayers seem unanswered, or when your heart breaks, it can feel like God has disappeared. But as Dr. Rocky Ramsey teaches from Hebrews 13:5, God’s promise is unchanging: “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”
This message reminds us that God’s presence is not proven by how we feel but by what He has promised:
Even when it seems like He isn’t there—He is (Matthew 28:20).
Even when it feels like He doesn’t love us—He does (Romans 5:8).
Even when life looks meaningless—He is doing something eternal (Ecclesiastes 7:14).
Pastor Rocky explains how God meets us in our problems (Job 42:5), changes us through trials (Romans 5:3–5, James 1:2–4), and guides us through His Word, Spirit, wisdom, and people (Psalm 119:105; Isaiah 30:21; Proverbs 11:14).
Even when life seems out of control, God is still in control (Job 42:2). He enables us to stand when we feel like falling and to have peace even when the world around us is breaking.
Ultimately, this sermon is a call to trust God’s unseen hand—to believe that He is up to something good, even when everything around us says otherwise.
