The Danger of Drifting

Drifting from God doesn’t usually happen in dramatic leaps—it happens gradually. Dr. Rocky Ramsey explores the life of Lot as a sobering example of how choices can lead to devastating spiritual consequences.

Lot began as a righteous man, but when he chose based on selfishness instead of faith, he opened the door to compromise. He overestimated his ability to influence the sinful culture of Sodom and underestimated the influence it would have on him and his family. The result was a tragic loss of integrity, influence, and legacy.

Sin always costs us, always multiplies, and always pulls us further than we intended to go. Like Lot, when we compromise, we lose our power to impact the world for Christ.

If He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment.
