The Danger of Wanting "More" Than Jesus
Why do so many Christians continually search for something more?
Throughout history, God's people have been tempted to replace faith in Christ with experiences, personalities, emotions, or spiritual excitement. In the second and concluding message of "When Jesus Isn't Enough," Dr. Rocky Ramsey returns to Colossians 2 to remind believers that they are already complete in Christ.
The message explores several dangers that arise when Jesus is no longer enough. People begin misusing Scripture to gain influence over others. False teachers manipulate people through emotional experiences rather than Biblical truth. Feelings begin replacing a genuine relationship with God.
Scripture repeatedly warns believers that experiences alone are never proof of spiritual maturity. Emotional moments can be genuine, but they are never the foundation of faith. God's Word—not our feelings—must remain our authority.
Ultimately, Christianity is not built upon chasing experiences but upon knowing Christ Himself. Jesus is not something we add to our lives. He is our life.
The message concludes with a sobering challenge from Jesus' own words: many who believe they know Him actually do not. The invitation is not to pursue another experience, but to seek Christ with all your heart and find your completeness in Him.
“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete.”
