When Jesus Isn't Enough

What are you looking for from God?

For many Christians, faith can quietly become a search for something more: a more powerful experience, a stronger feeling, or a moment that finally makes faith feel real. But Colossians 2:8-10 offers a different picture. In Christ, the fullness of deity dwells bodily—and in Him, we have been made complete.

In the first of a two-part message, Dr. Rocky Ramsey examines what happens when Jesus is no longer enough for us. When we crave experiences, when nothing we have seems sufficient, and when we constantly seek something more, we become vulnerable to anything that promises to satisfy that hunger.

The problem is not that we need more of God. The problem may be that we have forgotten who Jesus is.

Jesus is God. Jesus is who we get. Salvation is having Jesus. And a genuine encounter with Christ does not ultimately make us proud or obsessed with being the greatest—it humbles us before Him.

God is a person we know, not merely a feeling we have. And if Jesus is not enough, we may need to ask a more serious question: Do we truly have Jesus?

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete.
