The Christian and Death
What really happens when a Christian dies?
In this sermon, Dr. Rocky Ramsey walks through 2 Peter 1:11–15 to show us the Biblical view of death. Far from being something to dread, death is described in the Bible as a departure, a laying aside, and most beautifully, an entrance into heaven.
Dr. Ramsey also reminds us of two vital truths:
We only know what God has chosen to reveal about Himself and eternity.
That revealed truth gives us both peace and perspective when facing our own mortality—or the death of those we love.
From “sleep” as a metaphor for the believer’s death, to the promise of immediate presence with the Lord, this message brings both clarity and comfort to a topic often filled with fear and mystery.
“For in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.”
