Do Miracles Still Happen?
Continuing our series on the Holy Spirit, Dr. Rocky Ramsey addressed one of the most discussed subjects in Christianity: the sign gifts and the role of miracles.
This message emphasizes that God is unchanging. Because He never changes, miracles are still possible, and God continues to work supernaturally. Yet Scripture also reveals that miraculous activity appeared in distinct waves throughout Biblical history—during the ministries of Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, and ultimately Jesus and the apostles. These periods served to validate God's messengers and confirm His revelation.
Pastor Rocky explains that healing and miracles were never intended to guarantee that everyone would be healed. Even in Jesus' earthly ministry, not every sick person was healed, and the apostle Paul himself endured ongoing physical affliction. Miracles were never presented as substitutes for faith.
This message also highlights an important warning: supernatural signs alone do not prove that something is from God. Scripture teaches that Satan is capable of counterfeit signs and wonders. Therefore, believers must evaluate everything according to God's truth.
Finally, Pastor Rocky outlines five ways God still works miraculously: through provision, healing, circumstances, revelation, and transformed lives. Of all these works, perhaps the greatest miracle is the changed life of a redeemed sinner.
Romans 10:17 reminds us that genuine faith comes not from spectacular experiences, but from hearing and believing the truth of God's Word. Miracles may capture attention, but truth transforms lives.
“For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues. All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? But earnestly desire the greater gifts.
And I show you a still more excellent way.”
