Understanding God's Sovereignty

In this message, Dr. Rocky Ramsey addresses one of the most difficult and often misunderstood doctrines in Christianity: the sovereignty of God.

Teaching from Psalm 115:3, the message begins by acknowledging a foundational truth—human beings will not fully understand everything about God. Deuteronomy 29:29 reminds believers that some things belong to God alone.

The message explains that while God is omnipotent and capable of doing whatever He chooses, sovereignty is often misunderstood. Not everything that happens should automatically be interpreted as God’s direct will or action. Scripture teaches that God has chosen not to force His will upon His creation, allowing real human choice and the consequences that follow.

This framework helps explain the presence of evil, suffering, and human brokenness in a world under God’s ultimate authority. Satan is described in Scripture as the present ruler of this world system, though only temporarily and under God’s larger historical authority.

Rather than offering simplistic answers, the message highlights the promises believers can trust in the midst of suffering: life will include hardship, God will remain present, strength will be available, good can emerge from evil, and ultimate deliverance is coming.

But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.
— Psalm 115:3
