The Work of the Holy Spirit

What does the Holy Spirit actually do?

Dr. Rocky Ramsey begins by exploring the many names of the Holy Spirit found in Scripture. These names reveal His relationship to the Father and the Son, His divine nature, and the gifts He provides. From the Spirit of God to the Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Grace, each name offers insight into who He is.

The message then shifts to the central focus: the work of the Holy Spirit.

In the world, the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin and brings spiritual life. He opens hearts to truth and initiates the process of salvation.

In the believer, the Holy Spirit takes up residence at the moment of conversion. He begins an ongoing work of transformation, producing character marked by love, joy, peace, and other spiritual fruit. He provides comfort in difficulty, guidance in decision-making, and power for living out the Christian life.

The Holy Spirit also works within the church. He creates unity among believers, leads authentic worship, and equips individuals with spiritual gifts for ministry.

Above all, the Holy Spirit’s ultimate purpose is to glorify Jesus and reveal the truth of God. Everything He does points back to Christ.

Understanding the work of the Holy Spirit helps believers recognize that they are not living the Christian life alone. God Himself is actively working in them and through them every day.
