Biblical Relationships Without Confusion

In part three of this series, Dr. Rocky Ramsey focuses on passages in Ephesians and Colossians that are often misunderstood, especially when it comes to relationships, authority, and responsibility.

This message emphasizes that Scripture must be interpreted in context. Ephesians 5:18–6:9 and Colossians 3:16–4:1 describe how Spirit-filled believers relate to one another—not how people are to control, dominate, or endure harmful behavior.

At the heart of these passages is a call to service. Believers are called to serve one another in humility, reflecting the character of Christ. In marriage, this means husbands loving sacrificially and wives responding with respect in the context of that love. In families, it means children honoring godly leadership and parents leading with responsibility and care.

The message also extends beyond the home. Work and leadership are framed as acts of service to Christ, where both workers and leaders are accountable to God in how they treat others.

When understood correctly, these passages do not create imbalance—they promote mutual responsibility, respect, and Christ-centered living. God’s Word does not give permission for harm. It provides a blueprint for healthy, Spirit-filled relationships.

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
