The Story Behind the Birth of Jesus

The birth of Jesus was not an unexpected moment in history—it was the fulfillment of a promise that stretched back to the earliest pages of Scripture.

In this message, Dr. Rocky Ramsey walks through the remarkable prophetic thread that leads to the incarnation of Christ. From Genesis 3:15 onward, the Bible foretold the coming of a Redeemer who would be born of a woman and ultimately defeat sin and death.

The Old Testament prophets gave astonishingly detailed predictions about the Messiah. He would come through the family line of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, Jesse, and David. He would be born of a virgin and arrive in Bethlehem.

Then came four hundred years of silence following the prophet Malachi. Yet even in the silence, God’s plan was moving toward fulfillment.

When the moment arrived, heaven announced it. Angels appeared to Zacharias, Mary, and Joseph, declaring that the long-awaited Savior had come.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem just as the prophets had foretold. Shepherds worshiped Him. Wise men traveled great distances to honor Him. Yet many rejected Him, fulfilling another tragic reality described in John’s Gospel: the Light came into the world, but many loved darkness instead.

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.
