What Is Good?

Culture constantly redefines what is good, but Scripture is unwavering: God alone determines what goodness looks like. In Micah 6:8, the Lord calls His people to a life marked by action, character, and dependence — to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with Him.

In this message, Brennan Oaks explains that doing justice is not optional for God’s people. Justice must align with God’s truth, be practiced — not just discussed — and include defending those who cannot defend themselves. Justice reveals the very character of God to the world.

Loving kindness flows directly from God’s steadfast love. When we value mercy over judgment and extend forgiveness as we have received it, God’s kindness works through us to bring repentance, healing, and witness.

Finally, walking humbly with God is the posture that makes justice and kindness possible. Humility begins with recognizing our need for God, following Christ’s example, and preserving unity among His people. It is the soil in which faithful obedience grows.

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
