It doesn’t matter how far down you are—you are never out of God’s reach!

Rich has spent the last 30 years of his life in Music Ministry. At a young age he began by leading a college choir and a high school choir at Overlake Christian Church in Seattle, Washington. He also served as a male soloist for the church, played percussion in the orchestra, and assisted the Music Director for all musicals in the church. It was during this time that Crist Family Ministries was born.

Crist Family Ministries was a Christian vocal group comprised of many of the Crist family members. They traveled the Northwest singing and testifying of how God saved their family and could make a difference in lives when He was placed first.

In 2004, the Crist family relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee and began a 10-year journey in full-time music ministry. They traveled over 200 days a year, covered 46 states, and 4 different countries. In 2009 they were voted Horizon Group of the Year by the Singing News Fan Awards. As the family grew, it became evident that the family needed to retire. Their last concert was on November 22, 2014.

I was raised in a very fundamental—legalistic church. I lived a sheltered life. All that I knew growing up, is that I was supposed to be in church four times a week. If I didn’t do that, if I didn’t behave and accept Jesus—I was going to hell. God was preached as a mean God… We heard plenty about hell, but rarely heard about His love, mercy and grace.

When Rich was 15 years old his parents left their church in Arizona, and moved the family to Colorado. “It was an act of rebellion by my parents that trickled down to me.” Rich rebelled against God through all of his high school years. But when God saved his parents’ marriage, Rich’s life was forever changed.

In 1982, Rich’s parents moved to Seattle and joined Overlake Christian Church where they sang in the choir. Rich saw how God was restoring his parents’ lives and marriage, and decided to join them in Seattle where he would finally surrender himself to Christ. Little did he know, the Overlake choir had been praying for him an entire year. It was at this same church that Rich would meet his future wife, Lisa.

Rich and Lisa have been married since 1984. In 2014 they celebrated 30 years of marriage. They have three daughters and three son-in-laws—all living in Tennessee.

“God used the Church to bring us back to Himself… That is why I am so passionate about serving as the Director of Music at Corryton. I pray that God would use me to be a positive influence in the lives of everyone that I work and fellowship with. It doesn’t matter how far down you are—you are never out of God’s reach!

Rich’s Favorite Scripture: "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10.9
